What impact has your life had?
While driving on a two lane road recently, yellow flashing lights appeared ahead. It was a hearse was leading a funeral procession. I pulled over and prepared to respectfully wait and was shocked to see only two cars in the procession. The first question to pop in my head was “what kind of life did this person lead to have influenced or impacted the lives of only two people. “
Eventually we all meet our final fate. Here are some questions to help us focus our thoughts on what legacy we are leaving for our family, work, and community.
Ask yourself these important life questions:
Can I honestly name three people from my work, family, or community that would say I have encouraged their success, lifted them up, or made them a better person?
What do I want to be remembered for?
What are the three actions that I can do right now to achieve and earn my legacy?
Most of us truly want to make an impact and leave a positive life legacy. You don’t have to be a famous athlete or be named Steve Jobs to make your life count. Of course it takes effort and you must consciously take time to make the effort. Lifting others up, making your community and the world better is one of the most fulfilling things that you can ever do in your life.
Leaving a legacy isn’t about a popularity contest and if you only have two cars at your funeral, make your impact count!
It starts today, right now.
