Mark Calitri-tourism report: Kentucky Governor releases new COVID 19 guidelines

Unfortunately, COVID-19 continues to spread through our state at rapid pace. Governor Andy Beshear released new guidelines this afternoon that will go into effect from November 20 at 5:00 p.m. until December 13 at 11:59 p.m.

The following are the new guidelines:

RESTAURANTS AND BARS

  • Closed to indoor dining
  • Delivery or to-go permitted
  • Outdoor service permitted if the establishment follows mask requirements and distancing rules

GYMS, FITNESS CENTERS AND POOLS

  • Must maintain 6 feet apart
  • Group Classes prohibited
  • Limited to 33% occupancy
  • Masks required

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

  • Requested to work from home, if at all possible.
  • For operations who cannot work from home, it is requested to keep below 33% of staff occupancy and also requested to be closed to visitors.

 

INDOOR SOCIAL GATHERINGS

  • Limited to two households
  • Must be eight people or less.

INDOOR VENUES, EVENT SPACES AND THEATERS

  • No more than 25 people per room
  • Includes weddings and funerals

 SCHOOLS

  • All middle and high schools (public and private) and all universities (public and private) will be required to be virtual through the end of the calendar year beginning November 23.
  • Elementary schools may reopen December 7 if their county is not in the Red Zone and the school follows all Healthy at Schools guidance.

 THERE WILL BE NO CHANGES TO:

  • Childcare
  • Hospitals
  • Manufacturers
  • Barbers/Stylists
  • Retail (But Mask Mandate MUST Be Enforced)

CARES ACT FUND FOR KENTUCKY RESTAURANTS AND BARS

The state has earmarked $40 million of CARES Act funds to assist bars and restaurants. $10,000 will be available to each restaurant or bar whose total revenue is less than 50% from drive-through and who are not publicly traded. The Chamber will have more information on this as soon as the application is available. The fund will be made available on December 1.
