Mark Calitri reports: Visit Owensboro sales team on the move: Aggressively selling Owensboro

Mark Calitri, president of the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau, said the local hospitality industry is off to a great start.

He said March saw a record 63% hotel occupancy rate in town, up from 57% a year ago.

And the first quarter saw a rate of 56%, up from 50.5%.

But, with the new 144-room Home2 Suites by Hilton set to open this summer across the street from the Owensboro Convention Center, Calitri said the sales teams at the CVB and the Owensboro Convention Center are running a sales blitz through April 25.
